If you have no DSL or Cable service in your area then you are down to two options.

1) Satalite Internet
2) 3G Mobile Broadband, if you can get cell phone service in your area.

When you subscribe to the 3G service the cell company will give you a 3G PCMCIA card to plug into your computer. To use this with your desktop you will need to purchase a PCMCIA adapter to plug into a spare slot inside the desktop. Or you can purchase a 3G wireless router and plug your desktop in using ethernet or connect using a 802.11x wireless adapter.

Below are some links to 3G service, a D-Link 3G router and a PCMCIA adapter for desktops.

Sure you can... provided there is a WiFi hub you can log into, otherwise it's a waste of time and money trying.
