Ok, my neighbor has a 1987 yamaha dirt bike. we know very
little about it, and he needs to know the engine size. We called Yamaha and gave then the VIN - no help there, he needs the model #. Well if there is a model # on that bike then we are blind cause we can't find it. I know VIN's on cars are coded, so i tried to google that, nothing. This bike needs some work, but it's hard to get parts when ya don't know what you need.
here are all the numbers we could find on this bike:

1RH-015948

YAM1RH0223

65086222

7-8220089

JYA1RH002HA015948

Any help or resources are greatly appreciated and thank you for reading my long post.

I have a 01 YZF600R, riding home from work one daying doing about 65mph, and I noticed the oil light came on shortly for about 10 seconds, it did that twice. I changed the oil less than 2,000 miles ago, and I don't do burnouts or wheelies or hole shots, and it don't appear to be leaking any oil. Has this ever happened to anyone, any idea of what might be going on, think it's still safe to ride?

I've read on this site, that although bulletproof, these aren't good for a first bike. I'm a big guy, 6' 280 lbs (closer to linebacker 280 lbs than weight watchers 280 lbs) and was by a friend who rides that I shouldn't look at anything less than a 750. Any thoughts on this? If not this bike then which would you suggest?

I have a friend who works at a harley dealership and yesterday he wanted to show me what kind of crap they have to deal with everyday because I always accuse of having an easy job. So were looking over the dealers recent sales and in the last month they a total of 4 people payed cash for their bike out of 79 total sales and to top it off 53 of those people financned over 1000$ worth the clothes with their bikes and an additional 14 financed a few hundred worth the harley clothes. And most of the loans were for the full 6 years. So what does this say about the typical harley rider? And what does the average of a 19% interest rate say about their credit?

Claim #1:Jap bikes are built to last.*Well if that's the case then Where are the Old Ones? 90% of All Harleys ever built are still on the road and running. Jap bikes even close to 10 years old are crushed and sold back to Japan so they can build more.
#2:Harleys are uncomfortable. You got us there if your idea of comfort is lying face down, with a vibrator in your crotch and your butt in the air.Now there's a Visual.
#3:Harleys are obnoxiously loud and ugly ,yet Jap Manufacturers have spent Millions trying to imitate their look and sound,But can't seem to get past RingDingDingDing, little fart, etc

It makes me want to cry to even have to write this. Not even a month after I got my bike I laid it down going around a sharp turn that was fresly oiled. Wasn't aware of this until it was to late (no warning signs)!!!!! I found all the platic I need to buy to fix it but I ran into a few problems. There is 2 small scrapes on the frame and I was wondering if there was anyone who could help me on how to fix these, as far as filling them in and painting over it. Also on both sides of the bike there are 2 sticker like things on the frame where your knees go. That got some scratches on it as well and I don't even know what they are called so I can replace them. That is if they even come off at all. So I am also hoping someone can help me with the name of this part or where to get one. My gas tank got some light scrapes but it doesn't look like it went into the paint. Anyone got any advice on how to get them out so I dont have to spend 800.00 on a new one?

The bike did not run long with the 10w40 in it before i changed it to 2 stroke but it hasn't run right since. I would like to get this bike running for my son but don't know why it runs so poorly. It will start after a lot of kicking but will only run on full throttle and will not idle. If this is a carbueration issue what do I do. thanks for any input

I was shown in person how to replace my speedo cable, and later picked up a new cable from the dealership. It is an unmarked cable, but the parts guy thinks there's a good chance it's the one I need. This new cable has one forked end (seems to fit on the wheel), and one end that is solid. I can see that the forked end is supposed to go on the wheel, but the other end doesn't fit into the back of my instrument panel. I removed only the windshield and kind of felt around blindly and tried to twist the cable into place. At first I thought that it was definitely the wrong cable, and I tried to put my old cable back on, and it didn't go on either! I can't help but think I'm doing something completely wrong and that there is really a simple solution. I'd rather not have to take the front fairing off, but it will give me a better view of the back of the instrument panel. any tips for me?

this is kind of a dumb question. i need to take the side cover off my moped to replace the starter shaft. (the tip that sticks out snapped off!) i dont know if i need a special drill or what to get in there because the screws are on tight. i dont know much about tools, but im not dumb. so if you tell me what i need i might know what youre talking about.

Cars will get pulled over simply for having a defective muffler. But many motorcycle owners blast their engines SO LOUD around town, setting off car alarms, and it doesn't seem to be a problem. What's up with that??? (By the way, I think a lot of that is on purpose, just to p|ss people off. And that sucks.)
