take off the radiator cap and start the bike, if coolant flows out immediately, then you screwed up and over heated the engine, blew the head gasket and the combustion gases are pressurizing the coolant jackets. if it doesn't say for after 90 seconds you are probably OK, air is trapped in the system. to remove the air from the system find the hose on the radiator that is the highest point and loosen it, continue to add coolant until coolant spills from that hose, then the air is removed. some bikes have bleeder screws built into the plumbing to accomplish this...not sure for your bike. good luck and keep your knees in the breeze

oftentimes, whilst a water pump 'is going out', 2 issues can ensue. a million) the seal fails (oftentimes because of the 2nd ingredient) and water drips or runs out the front. 2) the bearing is going out and you will now and returned get some noise. whilst the coolant is going out and gets low, the boiling can push the water to the suited of the radiator such as you observed. The equipment is quite out of water and your sensor has no warm water on it and does no longer constantly study warm or overheated. using on would reason the crankshaft and connecting rod bearings to fail because of the fact the severe over temp of your engine led to the lube oil to grow to be too skinny to grant sufficient lubrication. quite, you 'cooked' your engine. What would desire to have occurred became into to enable the motor vehicle sit down until eventually it cooled down thoroughly, then upload coolant returned to the right point once you probably did the hose restore. commence it and enable it heat, then recheck the point of coolant, it is going to oftentimes replace and prefer extra.

It might need a new radiator cap.
The spring for the relief valve may have lost it's strength.
Radiator caps do go bad.

The lable should say "check full - hot".
If you fill it to the line when cold, the natural expansion will cause it to overflow.

Your engine may have gotten damaged from overheating before you changed the water pump.

Mostly dependent on how hard you ride it.
