hello i have a suzuki gz250 and i was wondering if there is any harm in starting off from 2nd gear i tryed it and it worked and i find it easy to do it because if i start in 1st since its only a 250cc my first gear tops out at about 7-9mph and that makes it a little hard to get into moving traffic thank you

the only harm that starting in 2nd gear will do is potentially wear your clutch plates out a little bit faster due to having to slip them some since the higher gear ratio...

It puts more ware on the engine's top end (piston & rings) struggling to get the revs up.
Then it strains the clutch.
The immediate rear wheel demand for power wants to make the clutch slip.
It may not happen right now, but as the cluch wares (as it eventually will) the strian will cause it to slip a tiny bit and ware it down faster than normal.
Bite the bulit and use first.

it won't wear the gears pepper must not know ****. it can be hard on the clutch if you have to slip it excessively, but other than that its fine. by the by, it will go faster than 9mph in 1st gear

About the biggest problem I could think of is burning up your clutch if you have to slip it excessively every time you take off.

Begin with 1st in order to save the gears from excessive and premature wear and tear.

yes its ok, first gear is just so you can start quickly, or up a hill. you can start up a hill in second if you know how.
