I have a 97 Kawi ZX9R that I bought to fix, the tire was hitting the fairing at the bottom. I had the forks checked (they were bent so installed new forks but the problem hasnt improved much, so I suspect the triple trees but not sure how to check them. Ive taken them off the bike whats the next step?

I have a 1971 Yamaha RT1-360 that i'm in the process of restoring. The engine is kicking over, but there is no spark. I believe it's the points, but still not too sure.
Any other possibilities? And by chance, know where I can find a wiring diagram for the other electronics without buying the manual?

I'm looking for full face helmets. Would you recommend Arai or Suomy?

I am considering purchasing a really nice, full featured motorcycle to do some traveling with around the USA, Canada and eventually through out Europe. I would also like to add a sidecar to give the bike better balance, can anyone suggest a good brand and model or any tips?
Thank you in advance

"Hi, I''ve never had a motorcycle before but I've seen them on SuperBikes and think they are SOOOO cool! So I want to get one right away, and I like the GSX-R1000/R1/Hayabusa death rocket. Do you think that would be good for a beginner? I'd start on a 600cc bike, but I don't want to be bored in six months!

I play football in high school, so I'm really strong and stuff and I rode a friend's quad once in Montana without crashing. Besides, I'll be really careful and all, and I'm better than anyone else on the planet when it comes to things I know nothing about!

I have a letterman jacket and some nifty, baggy pants just in case I fall over, but I won't be going very fast anyway so it doesn't matter. I have a few speeding tickets, but I can drive a stick shift! I haven't really thought about how I'm going to pay for everything, and I have no idea how much insurance is for a teenager on a sportbike, but that couldn't be too expensive, could it?

What do you think?"

I just bought a Jeep Wrangler, so I'm a bit pressed for cash.

I'm wanting to find a motorcycle for cheap (no more then $1,500). I've been told that the Honda Rebel is a good starters bike...I'm a beginner rider.

Anyone know of any dealer or private seller in the St. Joseph/Kansas City Missouri area who is trying to sell a Rebel used? (I've checked Ebay already)

My yamaha thundercat (yzf 600 r) if ridden at slow speeds then left to idle heats up until around 103 degrees centigrade when the fan kicks in.

The temperature then stays around 100. Then if i get some clear road and ride it faster than 30 the engine cools down to around 80 and stays there till its slow or stationary again.

All coolants & lubricants are at the correrct leves..

Is this normal, or do i have a problem (i havent had the bike long)?

Many thanks

I've been doing a LOT of commuting on my motorcycle around Boston recently, and here are the things that have been driving me crazy:

1. other bikers who don't think the rules of the road apply to them (I HATE when they ride up the line between stopped traffic, I'm waiting for one of these grumpy Boston drivers to see them coming in the rearview and open his door...not that I want that, but it just seems like a matter of time)

2. The insane number of SUVs on the road. I can't see over them or around them and there are so many that I'm frequently boxed in by them with no visibility.

3. I know this will raise a debate, but... states without helmet laws. I know everyone has their opinions, but the sight of a person's head literally busted all over the pavement stays with you.

4. (for similar reasons) bikers in shorts, flipflops, shirtless, etc. Honestly guys, FLIP FLOPS? If you had to put your foot down fast, you'd have no foot left!

What is your list? (no non-riders please)

Hi,

I was born in 1990 (16 years old now) with a rare eye disease called Presumed familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR), which left me nearly blind in one eye and made my right eye quite bad as well.

Its never really made much of a difference to my life. I've always excepted I'm different and lived with it, however, its really hit me this year how much its put a damp stop on my life. The most, being unable to drive.

I'm guessing even if i could see the number plate from the correct distance, i would never get insured.

I'm just wondering, does anyone know any information on the visual law for UK driving. I've tried searching for people with my eye disorder, however, its so uncommon, theres hardly any information on it.

My parents said i should get an electric moped, as you don't need a license, tax, etc, however, they're annoying to other drivers as they're so slow, and i don't want to be singled out.

My Acuity - 6/18 RE; 1/60LE
(whatever that is)
thanks

Any tips?

2007-07-11 20:32:24 · 4 answers · asked by Anonymous

I tipped the bike on its side while it was running, it dumped some oil out and was promptly shut off. ( it ran less than a minute thirty on its side) when we flipped right side up... it wouldn't start. This is an inline four cylinder sport bike aka crotch rocket. Someone suggested cleaning out the air filter, removing the spark plugs, adding oil till the dipstick read full, and hand cranking (by putting a wrench on the sprocket) the engine for a few turns, then putting the spark plugs back in and attempting to start the bike.... My question is.... DOES THIS SOUND LIKE IT MIGHT WORK?

I have a moped, and it often just dies when it's idling, and i'm guessing it's because its idle is set too low. How do I raise the idle, or how else could I fix this problem?

I am making a 'sissy bar' for my big black, tough, butch Vmax but I need to call it something else - too gay.

Anyone got any alternatives - the more funny/stupid the better.
I might go into production with this name if you can come up with one good enough
