Visit www.oldskoolsuzuki.info and browse to both the 'oilcooled' and the 'for sale' sections. You'll find one there

Ebay is your best bet, but just as the others stated, it's a risk. You can always email the seller and try to get some info about the bike. Did it run before parting it out, how many miles did it have, has it been tested, do they have a return policy, etc. And make sure it's a seller that uses Paypal to cover your butt.

Most bikes typically use the same components for a few years. Try going to the link below and compare years. Sometimes a different size engine will still work as well. Meaning a CDI from a 750 might, and I stress MIGHT, work with a 1000, but don't take my word on that. That's probably a long shot. I took a look at the fiche and as an example the 91 and 92 Katana 1100s both used the same CDI. If the item/part number is the same then it will be a straight swap. Look through the years and compare and that will give you broader options.

If you can find a CDI on the cheap from Ebay it may be worth trying that. There's a link to one below for $125 from a good seller. If you don't use Ebay much it's important to try different search options. Try '91 SUZUKI CDI' or 'Katana CDI', etc. Just keep in mind that you are buying a part that is fairly old already. My FZR is a 87 so I know the frustration of finding parts. Good luck.

Edit: The link for the CDI below says it's not for a Katana. I don't know exactly what bike you have, but at least it gives you and idea. Check other makes as well. A CDI from a Bandit may work with a Katana for example. Take some time to research to be sure. Also check for some Suzuki bike forums. Lot of times you can find guys looking to sell or swap parts for a good price.

On Bikebandit.com's website, choose your year then make, and look in the SIGNAL GENERATOR tab. Some of the later year fiches have the CDI listed in electrical.

Get a copy of MCN, lots of breaker's in there, and CDI are generally pretty reliable. I got a second-hand digital ignitor for £60 instead of the £350 +VAT for a new one. I saw my old bike yesterday..still working after 11 years.

Buying used electronic components is a bad idea. Even if you get it for 1/2 price, if it goes out next week you are out of luck.
Get a new one you know will last.

Ebay, but you might be buying a $100 peice of junk. You would be better off buying a new one. Cheaper in the long run, I know from experience.
