I have a 97 Kawi ZX9R that I bought to fix, the tire was hitting the fairing at the bottom. I had the forks checked (they were bent so installed new forks but the problem hasnt improved much, so I suspect the triple trees but not sure how to check them. Ive taken them off the bike whats the next step?

Put both fork tubes in the steering stem/tripple tree.
Tighten the pinch bolts for only one fork tube.
Try to spin the other around 360 degrees.
If you can't, the steering stem is bent and will need to be replaced (if you're doing this test with new forks, or known straight forks).

If the triple clamps are bent, the forks will not slide into the top clamp with out forcing them.
If the forks are hitting the fairing, check the fairing to see if it can be adjusted up higher. You could make a fork stop too, or maybe your forks are not assembled right.

One could probably be fabricated out of flat metal plate. If its, "bent ever so slightly" can't it be straightened on a press? EDIT: As far as straightening it, you'd have to remove it and take it to a shop that has a press. Also, pull a car up to a wall, leaving enough space between the bumper and the wall to wedge the front tire in, if you want to gorilla it into position. The problem is, you might bend the rim, or some spokes.

Probably easier to check with the yokes mounted on frame. If your new straight forks went into the yokes without any difficulty, it looks like the steering head of the frame is bent .
