this is kind of a dumb question. i need to take the side cover off my moped to replace the starter shaft. (the tip that sticks out snapped off!) i dont know if i need a special drill or what to get in there because the screws are on tight. i dont know much about tools, but im not dumb. so if you tell me what i need i might know what youre talking about.

Before you start drilling on the bolts, go to Sears and get a 16oz ballpeen hammer and a Hand Impact Driver. Determine the correct bit for the fasteners, tap the bit in, give the impact a twist in the direction of removal: righty tighty, lefty loosey. With a firm swing, hit the tool (not your hand). With a couple trys, the screw will come out. Good Luck.

To remove tight screws, use a hand held inpact driver.

Pick - Street Catalog
Go to - Index - Impact Driver
Any store that sells tools, will have them.

If it's cross head screws (Phillips), you'll need an impact driver.

As you can see, they're not that expensive (under $10).
It'll loosen the screws without stripping them out.
