2001 Kawasaki kx100 clutch problem?
I have a 2001 Kawasaki kx100, when I start the bike in nutral then I pull in on the clutch it jerks then it dies. If I have it running and rolling put it in gear it shifts out great (pulls good) Is this a common problem? What do I need to do to fix it?
Thanks

The cable is adjusted as far as it can go, and pulling the lever on the trans. as far as it can move. It just came out of storage (in storage about 2 years)

Adjust the clutch cable "free play".
You should be able to pull the clutch lever 1/8-1/4" away from the clutch pearch (the lever is bolted to the pearch) before there is any tension on the inner part of the cable.
No more - no less.
The clutch plates might be stuck together.
It happens when a bike has been sitting for a long period of time.
Start the bike in neutral.
Put the front wheel against a wall (so the bike can't move forward).
Pull in the clutch.
Rev the motor and kick it into first.

if it has been lying in hibernation for long, did u chang the oil? this is the problem of clutch not disengaging properly.Open the cluth case, see if the clutch basket has dent marks on the faces where the plate tongs move back and forth,if that is the case, for the timebeing, you can take it apart, file it down till the dents have disappeared, wash the basket throughly to get rid of the alu.powder and reassemble with new oil. Ultimately you will have to get rid of the basket. This problem occurs when the rider keeps slipping the cluthch many a times for longer duration. Happy riding..

you need to adjust the free play in the clutch cable, you can do this at the clutch lever by winding the cable adjuster out one turn.
