Ok, my neighbor has a 1987 yamaha dirt bike. we know very
little about it, and he needs to know the engine size. We called Yamaha and gave then the VIN - no help there, he needs the model #. Well if there is a model # on that bike then we are blind cause we can't find it. I know VIN's on cars are coded, so i tried to google that, nothing. This bike needs some work, but it's hard to get parts when ya don't know what you need.
here are all the numbers we could find on this bike:

1RH-015948

YAM1RH0223

65086222

7-8220089

JYA1RH002HA015948

Any help or resources are greatly appreciated and thank you for reading my long post.

Could try looking at an online parts fiche, such as the one below. Also, could you indicate where you pulled those numbers from? I know the one is the VIN, but about about the others? You might be able to match it up. Just keep in mind that the same style bike will probably use the same components as a larger or smaller sized engine. Hope it helps.

Did you just call a Yamaha dealer?
The personnel there can be useless.
Contact Yamaha - they will tell you what model & year bike you have.
They want to sell parts and keep their customers happy, so they will be loyal and buy another Yamaha product in the furure.
Make sure you have the exact vin # ready (the JYA #)
