Anytime the truck is running it makes this horrific screaching noise and as you press the gas it gets louder. I have replaced a few things on this truck. The first noise I heard was this humming & everyone thought it was the power steering pump, but it still did it. Then after a few days the idler pulley broke & the belt came off, I replaced the pulley and it was ok...now the noise is coming back but is a screaching sound now. Anyone have any ideas? I am being told now it could be the serpentine belt but it doesn't look worn at all. Please help!!! Oh, by the way in case you haven't noticed I am a female and don't know much about cars other than putting gas in & I don't have the money to take it to a shop. Thanks!!!

I have a 1995 Ford Ranger with 205,000 miles and the check engine light came on with the code for “EGR Valve - Insufficient Flow”. Anyway, I replaced the EGR valve for $80.00 and the light is still on. The truck runs a hell of a lot smoother now with a little more power to boot. Why is the light still on? What else could be causing the “insufficient flow”?

It only happens while I'm stopped at a light or sign and I've only noticed it within minutes of coming off the interstate, which I travel each day at interstate speed. If I press on the gas while the oil light is on, it goes off. The car has enough oil. In fact, it is registering higher than it usually does on the dip stick.

Just had my 400 smallblock reconditioned, and just need a little detail on how to fit the engine to the transmission.. the transmission is still in the car, and all i was gunna do was to fit the flexiplate and the torque convertor to the engine block and drop it back in the way it came out.. But ive been told this aint right and the way to do it is to fit the flexi to the engine block, and then put the torque convertor on the tranny then bolt the two together once the engine is bolted to the transmission.. this seems like a whole lotter hassle, but if its the right way, it the right way.. If anyone knows if this is right or not, your help would be appriecated.. Also does anyone know where i can view an online guide to doing just this???

I recently purchased a car, my cars front panel looks same when its switched on and when it is in standby (i.e when key is inserted). Unintentionally I have many time switched on the engine when it was already on. It makes horrible noise which scares me. Does it have any side effect on the engine? does it damage the engine?

Please give your valuable answers.

can be heard matching the speed of the engine which i think is weird that you can hear the fans of the engine running there not supposed to do that example as i accelerate the fans accelerate (see ive been looking for a Z28 for a while and boy did i get burned by this guy that i bought it from he hid all these problems from me i hope he has a very very very miserable life from now on and me he die a painful slow death anyways)
i finally found a Z all i could find up until i found the Z were just the 6's so as happy as i was with (my life savings not really life savings)i bought it i took it for a drive and all the time the fans to what i believe and to what i was told were the engine fans constantly running and he gave me this bogus story of the previous owner rigging it to know if his fans were running okay i mean who the heck would have that done anyways none the less i bought it like a sucka on top of that a bad tranny$1600.00 to fix still Coolant system replace $700.00

First of all, I know nothing about cars.

I have a 1995 Toyota Corolla. Thats really all I know about it. Its a pretty basic car. Nothing really special about the engine or anything.

Earlier tonight, my car wouldn't start. A friend jumped it, and as it was running, I was cleaning it out. It was running low on gas so we were going to run to the gas station to get some. As soon as I turned my headlights on, the car died. We just re-jumped it and I started cleaning again, but as my cd player and overhead light started flickering (the cd player would turn off and on and restart songs).

Its a new battery, I replaced it in June. Could this be the alternator, and how much would that cost?? PLEASE HELP ME!!

I have a 2003 Chevy Malibu and have a problem with the headlights. Both are rather dull, but one is so faint it's barely noticeable. I've tried changing the bulb myself and the people at Jiffy Lube also changed it. Each time, the bulb is still barely visable. I know this much -- it's not the bulb.
What else could it be, and how do I fix it?

Burning 2 quarts of oil a week or more. Slight leak outside of engine but none in the antifreeze. I figured it is probably the piston rings. Car is a 91' Chevy Lumina. V6. It has been run low on oil many times. Knocking sounds like it's in just one cylinder near passengers side.

My car is a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville and it has around 170,000 miles on it. The engine still runs great so I would like to keep this car. Is the telltale sign of bad struts when the car picks up more road vibration? Any help would be great!

the Oil warning light after a minute or so, it comes on despite driving. Then the engine makes a noise like an old bus. Or post man pats van trying to struggle up a huge big hill. The car when driving starts to slow down. Had the RAC come and tow me home and suggested it could be an oil pump but there other things that might be wrong instead. The main problem he assured me was the pressure, presuming oil pressure. The engine noise and light don't come on every time only after a few minutes of ticking over but still its not the best purr. Ever since being towed home i'm at a loss as he told me not to use the car. I would like an idea so i could decide what to do with the car. Don't fancy paying out for a mechanic just yet plus don't really have the cash. Thought about having ago my self

I have a sealed chassis so I don't have to lubricate the chassis or suspension. But as far as door handles and other hinges go, can I use WD-40 or do I need some type of auto-grade oil/grease?

Today when I was driving home about 20 miles away, my car had made a few thumping noises. Then I had no heat and my car was starting to get hot. My digital clock kept dimming, until I couldn't see it. I could not use my headlights, my charge kept falling until it was zero. Also, the steering wheel was very tight and hard to turn. Eventually, I made it on my street, turned on to my driveway, a beeping alarm went off and then a ticking.
Now I know I shouldn't have been driving that far with it that hot but I needed to get it closer to the garage I'm going to take it to. It also smelled like something was burning and it was smoking. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT'S WRONG?

I was driving out of my apt. complex when my brake light came on. It was not my ABS brake light. This one just said BRAKE. I was able to drive back to my complex without any problems and my brakes seemed fine. Is the problem with my emergency brakes or the entire brake system. I haven't driven the car since, but the car is my life. Does this sound serious?
