Just had my 400 smallblock reconditioned, and just need a little detail on how to fit the engine to the transmission.. the transmission is still in the car, and all i was gunna do was to fit the flexiplate and the torque convertor to the engine block and drop it back in the way it came out.. But ive been told this aint right and the way to do it is to fit the flexi to the engine block, and then put the torque convertor on the tranny then bolt the two together once the engine is bolted to the transmission.. this seems like a whole lotter hassle, but if its the right way, it the right way.. If anyone knows if this is right or not, your help would be appriecated.. Also does anyone know where i can view an online guide to doing just this???

Best way is to bolt the flexplate to the block and install the t-converter in the trans so as not to damage the pump shaft or seal, drop the engine in and bolt them together once installed. Any good repair manual can show how this is done.
