Blower fan not working with heat?

I have a '02 Ford Taurus and the blower doesn't blow except from time to time, any suggestions?

If it only works when set to hi speed its the fan switch rheostat. If it happens no matter what speed it's set at, there may be worn brushes in the blower motor. Next time it doesn't work, turn the fan on and tap the motor housing and see if it starts.
