No. Many of the things that break frequently on a Saturn are available in the aftermarket. Parts that can only be acquired through the dealer network though can only be acquired through a Saturn dealer. You could not go to say a Chevy or Buick dealer and get Saturn parts. This is unique in the GM brand lineup. For any other GM models you can order parts from whatever dealership you want. I frequently get Oldsmobile, Buick and Pontiac parts from the nearby Chevy dealer for example, but no Saturn.

jmb and mister are EXTREMELY wrong.

You can buy parts anywhere that sells parts. With the warranty is concerned, Saturn will not warranty those parts. But when you get the part, there should be a warranty for the part anyway.

Keep a record of what you did. Save all the receipts and keep track of it all. If something goes wrong, Saturn will still have to honor their warranty.

No.
Like other car parts, Saturn parts can be bought at auto parts stores. In fact, saturn shares many parts with other GM makes as well. There may be some parts that are dealer specific but most are available.

If you buy a NEW saturn, you may have to buy all the aftermarket parts through saturn as to not void your factory warranty. But if you do buy one new, you shouldn't have to buy anything for it as it would be under warranty. But otherwise no, you can buy whatever you want from whomever you want to, unless said part(s) are DEALER only. God, sorry if I confused you like I just did to myself! lol Stay warm.

No. you can buy many after-market parts for the car. but if you need any kind of exterior panels like fenders and the like, you may need to go to the dealer to purchase the tool to remove and install them. Otherwise, you can get brakes, electrical, and tuneup parts as well as just about everything else at your local parts store.

you ONLY have to buy the parts through the dealer that a discount parts house don't carry. there are a few parts that are dealer only parts. but for the most part you can go to NAPA, auto zone, advanced outo parts, O'Rielly's
