It sounds like a indicator switch or hazard switch problem.
Has the car had an alarm fitted in its lifetime? If it has it could be the alarm causing the problem

Either the switch on the steering column is bad, or there is a short in the wiring that goes to the switch. You do not say what kind of vehicle it is, but my guess would be the switch. In most vehicles, the switch and wiring harness that go through the steering column come as a pre-made unit!, so replacing one will also replace the other!

The best test to see if it is in the column wiring / switch, or in the wiring after the column is to go under the dash and disconnect the wiring harness at the plug in connection! If the blinker stops, replace the switch / harness unit. If it still is on, then there is a short in the wiring under the dash!

You may try hitting the column near the switch sharply with the palm of your hand, to see it it frees the switch, but that most likely it will not help!

most vehicles have a blinker fuse..either under the dash or under the hood with a bunch of other fuses..its usualy pretty good size..if it is bad it can make your blinker stick in the continuous on position..or ur blinker handle on your steering column could be bad..check the blinker fuse first..its the cheapest...

the blinker assembly may be stuck inside the steering column

Have you checked your blinker fluid levels?
