If your turbo is no good then you'll be throwing smoke from the back because oil is getting in. Is the turbo located on the engine or is it not attached?

Take the air intake off and grab the turbine shaft with your fingers and try to move it side to side and up and down. If there is movement in the shaft the turbo is on its way out if not bad already. I've seen a few cars with the inner cooler hose ripped or loose under the right front fender which will ruin the performance, so check that first. I take it that the boost gauge is not working. A jumped timing belt will also cause a bad boost reading.

well yes...just see if the smoke coming out of the exaust is unusually black...also if the turbo is making a strange noise..like metal hitting metal
