My sisters 1997 Taurus LX has been stalling quite a bit lately. When she brought it into the mechanic he said it was a clogged fuel filter...Two different mechanics have diagnosed this as the problem...but I don't think it's normal to have the fuel filter replaced 4 times over the past 5 years. She doesn't put an excessive amount of miles on her car and she buys the same gas as I did when I had my Taurus and I had no problems. Is it possible that there could be something else wrong with the fuel system that could be causing this problem?
She has used fuel injector cleaner and the problem still persists. Any help or advice you can offer would be really appreciated, thank You!

I'm currently stuck without a/c in my car, and all I really need to know, is where do I put the nozzle for the recharge kit. I can only find one tube, where it looks like the nozzle will fit, but there's no writing discerning if thats the correct tube or not. It's the tube directly to the right of the fusebox, which is located behind the battery, over on the passenger side of the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My truck intermittently wouldn't start and I was told I needed to tighten the wires on my starter. I had that done and it ran for 5 days then completely stopped. Now I was told I need to replace those wires but when I called the auto parts stores some said it was the starter cable and others the positive battery terminal cable. What's the difference between the two and is there some way I can find out for sure which I need to replace. Thanks!

I have removed the coil from my car and want to test it. It is a Lucas DLB 101 12 volt coil from a Jaguar 4.2 E Type. When I touch the red meter wire to + and the black to - I get a reading of 0.9 ohms. When I touch the red meter wire to + and the black meter wire to the coil output I get 5 ohms. Do these readings look correct. I have been reading up about this and I am not sure. Many thanks, John

There is no oil burning or leaking from my truck. The oil gauges say that everything is normal. One problem, THERE IS NO OIL! Even after I have the oil changed, a few days later it's knocking and completely dry. I park in a garage so I would notice if there is a leak. When I crank it up there is no smoke? Any suggestions?

I just bought a used car and noticed that the car's brakes are slow to respond. I took it to a mechanic and they said I needed new front brake pads and resurfacing, which the dealer covered.

But the brakes are still slow to respond after the work. The pedal is stiff and I can press the brake all the way down and not have it stop completely...it will still gradually come to a stop. How do I increase the braking speed?

& what's the worst that can happen to your car for doing that? I usually let the air run for a good 15 minutes if it's burning hot for 15 minutes. In New Orleans, the heat is so hot you can't even touch the steering wheel. & one time I did that, & my former foster brother-in-law told me I'd run my battery down. But can't the battery get recharged? & also, how much would a new battery cost for a new car? My car was sort of new @ that time, but I don't have a car now because it got repossessed. I was just wondering if what he said was true because I asked someone else, & the other person said he was lying. I want to know so that in the future if I get another car, I'll know what I should do.

I need some serious help because I dont know the first thing about cars.

So the van is leaking water. I parked the van today 5 different times and each time there was a very small puddle of water. The fluid is water. I want to know if there is anything I can do in order to not take it to the machanic? Also, under which cap does the water go in, what does the top of the cap say? Also I have not used the A/C in about a month or 2.

I wondered if someone knows whether or not in the event of a power steering pump leaking on a Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec E (petrol), would it be possible that power steering fluid could find its way near the timing belt and tensioner etc? Has anyone ever had any experience of this?

2000 Oldsmobile Alero. I have a lot of friends with the same car who have the same problem. ALL of my windows have had problems. My rear passenger window keeps sliding down, i have to put it up every single day by hand. To get it to work the proper way it costs me $260. To get somebody to just come & put it up permanently it costs $80. I am planning on getting rid of the car completely so i dont want to invest any more money into it. Is there something i can buy to make my window stay up & up for good? That's cheaper than $80?? I know it won't be functional anymore but i dont care. Thanks!!

I need some good advice from someone well qualified in this field. Straight answers only please.
I have just put about a litre and a half of unleaded petrol in my diesel car on top of about half a tank of diesel. I know that I shouldn't have run the car after but had to do so and drove for about a mile. The main dealer are all ligned up to fleece me for lots of money and my reputable local garage offered to drain it but said it would probably be fine. Please help if you can give me some serious well informed advice.

I have a 3 month old corolla brand new with a warranty and everything, lately i've noticed that if I start the engine it'll idle at 2000RPM. After about 15 seconds it'll start to lower down into the 1000s. One thing to take into account is it has gotten much colder where I live. It used to be 70F degrees in the morning and now it is about 50F. Could this be influencing it? If I start the engine, drive, turn it off, then start it 5 minutes later, it won't do this.

When I shift it into drive (it's an automatic) I kind of feel it kick and it drops down to 1000 RPM. If I put it back into park it is still down at 1000RPM. Is this a problem?

The owner's manual said to change it at 60,000 miles. I drive a 2003 Ford Focus with a 2.0 DOHC I-4. I didn't change it. Are they expensive? Will my engine erupt in a fireball if I don't change it?
