Change the fuel filters in the line and in the carb. Check the idle adjustment. Needs to be at 650-700 rpm. Some cars have a high idle control. This may be bad. Check it out.

Sounds like an air/fuel mix problem. When you speed up you induce more air which keeps the engine running. It may be as simple as a clogged air filter.
I would also check the idle which should be around .7. You may just need a tuneup and some adjustments.

it must be a vaccum leak, the throttle physique may be ditry, idle air administration motor may be caught. merely take it to a expert and pay for a diagnosis. motor vehicle Zone is a waste of time even with the undeniable fact that this is unfastened. opportunities are high there are no stored codes so as that they're going to fill you with B.S. and sell you a set of spark plugs that may not restoration the undertaking.

If you live close to an AutoZone they will check out the sensors on the car for free. It's a quick test and it may be a O2 sensor.

This used to happen to us. A new fuel filter fixed the problem. These can be purchased for cheap and you can replace it yourself.
If that doesn't work, i'd suggest taking it to a mechanic. But try this first.... it might save you a bunch o' money.

there could be at least one of twenty things that could cause this to happen with today's cars, take it to auto zone or advance and have them scan the computer to see if it has any trouble codes in it this is always best to do before you try and make any attempt to repair it,at least this way you,ll have an idea of whats going on with it,and you wont buy a bunch of parts you don't need, good luck with it.
