2000 Oldsmobile Alero. I have a lot of friends with the same car who have the same problem. ALL of my windows have had problems. My rear passenger window keeps sliding down, i have to put it up every single day by hand. To get it to work the proper way it costs me $260. To get somebody to just come & put it up permanently it costs $80. I am planning on getting rid of the car completely so i dont want to invest any more money into it. Is there something i can buy to make my window stay up & up for good? That's cheaper than $80?? I know it won't be functional anymore but i dont care. Thanks!!

Linkage! inside the door panel the window sits in a track hook by linkage to the window motor or hand crank, linkage is warn bad or the gearing at the motor/crank is bad or loose. the door panel is going to have to be removed and the linkage repaired or replaced.

I am assuming you dont own a screwdriver and if you did dont know how to use one. Right? well find someone who does and remove the door pannel and put something under the window to prop it up, it shouldnt take too long but will require someone with a small amount of mechanical ability. Honest it wont be hard.

If you are anywhere in the greater Chicagoland area, I can fix it for you, for free, and it will still be functional.
