So I was at a garage and they mentioned my car battery had a fair amount of corrosion on it. I wanted to know if it would be better to just buy another battery corrosion free (ha) or actually pay for the service to have the corrosion removed or it would be best to just remove the corrosion myself? and if I can remove the corrosion myself...how and anything I should keep in mind or look out for? Thanks.

How do you remove the Gear Knob in a 1997 Suzuki Swift Cino Forelli 5dr Hatchback 1.3L 5sp manual.? If i turn it counter clockwise the whole actual bar down to the floor turns. if i continue to unscrew will it be hard to put back on.

Why does everyone seem to be mislead to the fact that backpressure is good? It is never good. It is a hinderance to the scavaging properties of a good exhaust. It has to do with the fact that you want a more laminar flow to create a low pressure zone behind each exhaust pulse due to the fact that you have high velocity pulses. It's just bernoulli's principle, right? So where does everyone get the wrong info? by mouth?

My husband bought a used car back in December & the car didn't have any odors except smoke. Summer rolled along and now the car stinks, bad. He keeps his car clean and I even detailed it for Fathers day. I scrubbed the carpets & seats with a carpet cleaner, vacuumed every nook & cranny in the car it was a very detailed job that I did seriously professionally done I spent hours on it. I cleaned the interior immaculately as well as outer. I thought after such a thorough job that the stench would be out but now with the heat its worse. I refuse to get in that car to go anywhere. I always want to take mine but when he takes his drives to anywhere and gets out his clothes smell!!! I can't take the odor of mildew. I ask him to strip off his clothes and shower up each time he steps back in the house. I know his co-workers have to smell it too and I don't want them to think that he has poor hygiene. It's almost like that Seinfeld episode of when Jerry bought the car that smelled like B.O...LOL

I own a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT and I'd really like to have it serviced and make it run like new. Here are the issues I'm having (I'm not very informed about automobiles, so bear with me please):

- When I turn on the truck, in takes about 3-5 seconds. It sounds like it is stuggling a lot to turn on. Also, it squeaks when it finally turns on.
- When I begin to accelerate, the squeaking starts again, and the battery gauge lowers. However, when I turn off my A/C the squeaking stops and the battery gauge rises back to normal.
- When I accelerate, I hear a clanking sound.
- Acceleration sucks.
- It's getting about 10-11 miles to the gallon.
- Every pothole feels like I just crashed. I can feel every single bump on the road. It's a rough ride these days.
- My door (driver's) doesn't lock anymore. The other doors lock, but mine just goes down and stays unlocked. In other words, it looks as if it's locked, but it isn't.
- It's really wasting a lot of gas.

It sounds as if the four wheel drive is partially engaged. I get a rattle and a clunking noise from the front differential and noise from the transfer case. Sometimes when you engage 4wd it stops. It seems like the faster you go the noise eases up alot. Could it be a vacuum problem?

Hi all. I was manually bleeding the coolant system and accidentally spilled a good amount of the coolant onto the engine and exhaust manifold. I couldn't clean out all of the spill. As I warmed up the engine, there was a substantial amount of white smoke coming from the engine bay so I quickly shut off in case it might spark a fire.

Is the coolant a fire hazard in this situation? Should I hose down the engine bay with water or just run the engine and burn off the coolant mixture?

You help is greatly appreciated!!

i drive a honda civic hatchback 1995, 1.6LSi car.
the engine still runs like new as always, however it seems to be licking up engine oil. i have to top it up quite often.
my confusion is that i would have expected the car to be smoking if the engine had gone bad or at least the engine should give me another hint that it is now "tired". On contrary it keeps running like there ain't a problem.
would tuning fix the fact that the engine consumes a lot of oil, or would i have to replace the engine.
i don't wanna part with the car.
thanks

i have a 98 Nissan Maxima, (dont know much about cars) and just recently, it started making an odd noise when i break, not like that squeaky noise, but like another type of rough noise, like if something is gonna fall off or is stuck or something, but i only hear it when i brake, any idea what it could be?
and im tired of taking it to pro mechanics they just charge alot and never fix the problems,
if its something to do with the brakes is it too difficult to fix by myself?????
im willing to risk it
Thanks In Advance

Okays, I am going to buy a new car, and I was just wondering if it was good to purchase the rust proof spray package. This package is where they spray the outside and bottom of your car to protect it from rusting. I live in Minnesota, so is this really worth purchasing for 700 dollars?

I guess my real question is, does it really work?
