sometimes it works fine for 3 or 4 days, then stops for no reason. I have also noticed this happening to the rear wiper. Nothing else in the car is faulty.

The cable is broken for the speed o meter. Rear wiper is a bad connection. That happens sometimes---...

the cable could be loose on one end or other --- you could have a cracked inner-guts-dash-panel and the speedo is part of that prob. ---- run new wires to the rear wiper and see if that corrects the intermittent function

it could have a bad ground wire causing this to happen,id go over it and check all the ground wires and see ,its worth a try.good luck on it.
