I have an '01 Pathfinder and I want to check to see if they need to be resurfaced or replaced.

you can look through the wheel on most of them and see them,and you can look from the inside of the wheel on some and see if they are bad,its easier to just remove the wheels and check them in most cases,good luck on it.

You need to take off the wheel

Then you will see the rotor and the caliper -

There are 2 bolts behind the caliper to remove

then a c- clamp to compress the caliper piston back in the caliper

The rotor will come off pretty easily once you get the caliper off.

Then it needs to be put on a micrometer to see if it is within working range - if it can be turned at all
or if it just needs replaced altogether

Then reassemble everything back.

No need to touch and other brake parts - just keep an eye make sure your fluid dont overflow when you press the caliper back together.

Take the wheel off and you can see them if you can't see them through the wheel. The backside is usually covered.

You can't feel them. You have to jack up the car and remove the tires to see them.
