I drive a 05 Honda Civic, 38 thousand miles on my car.....when I turn the air conditioner on, it only blows out lukewarm air. what would be the cause of this, and how much to repair?

It seems to low on 134A , this would be due to a leak...If the leak is a slow leak and a charge will get you through a season then go with the charge.
However you might want to have someone you know do it as some shops do not like to add freon, they can't make money on adding freon, so they get you in a comprimised circumstance and shove it in ya...Hey it's the american way... just forwarning you...
I would definatly do the charge first then see where it goes from there.... Good luck.

HAVE A TRUSTED INDEPENDENT A/C REPAIR SHOP FIRST CHECK IF YOU EVEN HAVE FREON IN THE SYSTEM AND ONCE THAT IS DETERMINED THEY CAN PERFORM A COMPLETE A/C SYSTEM LEAK CHECK.

IT WILL MORE EXPENSIVE BUT LET THE REPAIR SHOP SUPPLY THE PARTS AND THE LABOR, THIS WAY YOU WILL HAVE A FULL WARRANTY.

IF YOU SUPPLY THE PARTS THE SHOP WILL NOT REDO THE JOB IF ONE OF THE PARTS THAT YOU SUPPLIED FAILS.

BY FULL WARRANTY I MEAN 1 YEAR ON BOTH THE PARTS AND THE LABOR.

DO NOT TAKE IT TO THE DEALER OR ANY OF THOSE BRAINDEAD CHAIN STORES, THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

DO NOT BUY A RECHARGE KIT AND DO THIS YOURSELF BECAUSE WILL HAVE NO IDEA OF THE HIGH SIDE PRESSURE AND BY PUTTING A THERMOMETER IN THE VENTS AND READING IT WILL NOT TELL YOU IF YOU HAVE SLIGHTLY OVER-CHARGED THE SYSTEM.

normally and standard of service : every 2 years need to service a/cond. Need to replae a/cond receiver drier, a/cond gas (not top up) , and compressor oil .for cooling coil , a/c. exp.valve and a/c compressor need to check the condition and just clean up. normal service for service a/cond system is : around $ 350.00 for honda civic model. before u do , u asking first the estimated and what part need to change for service a/cond.

Needs a regas probably. Not very expensive. Also probably need a couple of seals, which are also not very expensive.
If, however, you need new pump, that's a whole different ballgame. Being an 05 model, this is unlikely.

the air conditioning system needs to be charged....the pressurized gas leaked out...heres what they do ... add dye and pressure to look for leaks in the system...depending where the dye comes out will tell you where the leak is and where its leaking will tell you how much it will be to repair

I would say first check to see if it needs freon in it and also check to see if there are any leaks in the system.

you need to take it in. my husbands car just did this and he ordered the parts himself ( $350) and with labor ( $500) total.
