Hi,
My 97 Chevy lumina is making a ticking noise when idle, and also when you slow down or stop and then accelerate the engine is sluggish and it's hard to pick up any speed, does anyone know what the cause of this might be?

I am about to pull the 4.0 v6 engine out of my YJ for a complete rebuild. I am hoping to get more power out of it. I was thinking about putting dome/high compression pistons and a performance cam...Is this a bad idea for this motor? Any suggestions?

Left my radio on overnight and couldnt start my battery this morning.

We bought a 99 VW Jetta and when you use the AC or Defrost a smell comes out. Kind of a stale dirty food smell. Anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of it? Could there be something in the vents??? or tubes leading to vents??? any suggestions???

I have a 1994 Mazda Protege and the battery will not stay charged. About 2 weeks ago I replaced the battery thinking that might be the problem, I also changed the terminals as they were looking quite bad. When that didn't fix the problem I got a new alternator. These are both testing good. Any ideas on why the alternator won't charge the battery? I can drive it about 60 miles before it dies.

my 1996 mercury mystique is stalling when you slow down, or go below 25mph. last week, a part of the sparkplug dropped into the engine, but we got it out. could that have anything to do with it stalling? how do you fix the stalling problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i have a volvo estate automatic (very old G reg) and the footspace by the drivers pedals has started getting oil of some sort seeping through the carpet, not black oil perhaps gear fluid??

or my dads the fan can blow really hot air but with summer coming i'd rather be able to get it better than juct cool, will changing my engine coolant affect anything?

I have a ford explorer 1993. mechanic says the catalic converter is shot and he would replace it for $1700. or he said I should go to an exhaust shop and they would probably make one and put in at a cost of about $300. Im not spending $1700 on an old car as I intend to get a much newer one within the next year. But it seems such a big difference in prices? anyone know why? what would you do? should I just remove the converter, could I drive for that long without it?

Heres my problem My tail lights arent working, BUT my brake lights are, also the hatch back wont open, although the top window does. And if that isnt enough the horn doesnt work. Is this a fuse(s). and can anyone email me a fuse diagram?

Corsa Breeze Diesel 1.7 (S reg- Isuzu engine) My battery keeps running flat and we just don't know why. I've had the alternator checked and put a new battery in but nothing seems to be working. There seems to be no real reason for the battery to die as i do quite long journeys in the car. There's no drain on the battery when it's not running (checked for faults too) and have fully charged the battery with a trickle charger more than once. Any ideas what could be wrong? i'm starting to think it must be the alternator even though i've had it tested but i just don't know! Is it possible to have an intermittent alternator fault?

My 95 explorer recently (after its first long trip in a while), started making a clinking noise which I can only notice with the window down. It SOUNDS like its only during idle, but thats probably because i can no longer hear it at quicker speeds. It increases a tiny bit with acceleration, but a TON when in Drive with my foot on the break and turning the wheel at a standstill. The frequency of the noise increases with a slight increase in volume. has 171,000 miles on it. 4x4 eddie bauer. HELP please

i have 98 dodge van and i went to have a oil change after that i start getting oil sign flashing and sounding now i m driving like this for month ,sometime it come back but when restart the car it goes away i have not seen anything else,van seems to be the same,can u please tell if that is the oil pressure or i have faulty sincers please any advise will help

My car goes to the left pretty bad when i take my hand off the steering wheel, i have to keep a constant pressure on it for it to keep straight. When my car is moving it also makes a swerving motion, it feels like the drivers side tire but we checked it and the lug nuts are tight, it feels as if they're barely on and its going like a quarter that you've spinned and its about to lay still you know weebly wobbly. I know i have a bad cv joint because its been making noise, but my question is, is this whats causing all of my problems or is my steering about to go alltogether with me driving down the road...i'd really prefer not to hit a tree if you know what i mean. Let me know what you think.

It's a 5 speed and does it in all gears, but only sometimes. Also for my last 2 oil changes, I started using a synthetic blend, and on my most recent a full synthetic (castrol 5-30W) was this a good thing? I don't use cheap gas (well anymore than I have to) and use an additive in my gas to keep the fuel injectors clean - should I even be using additives? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
