I am about to pull the 4.0 v6 engine out of my YJ for a complete rebuild. I am hoping to get more power out of it. I was thinking about putting dome/high compression pistons and a performance cam...Is this a bad idea for this motor? Any suggestions?

thats a good start.what about a double roller timing chain,a 3/4 cam,have it bored and stroked,a high rised intake,roller rockers.if its a manuel tranny,what about a competition clutch.if its a automatic,put a shift kit in it.good luck with your project.

properly the starter is extra component of the electical gadget than the engine. by using fact the starter will spin, the subject is maximum in all probability gas/air transport relatively than mechanical. for the reason that there are maximum of variables, your suitable wager is to seem on the easy issues first. seem on the Haynes instruction manual and circulate over the mundane issues like carb and plugs. in case you pull the plugs and don't smell gas, it particularly is exceedingly obvious that no gas is being further to the engine. in case you smell gas, then it particularly is the two an air transport difficulty or your engine isn't sparking. think of of the engine as a determination of smaller structures and do away with them as feasible suspects. If all else fails, take the engine aside and placed it lower back at the same time lower back. heavily. be waiting to have it towed to a save, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that.

The problem with beefing up the engine is it puts extra stresses on the rest of the running gear. Go ahead & give it some more jam, but expect more repairs.
