My 95 explorer recently (after its first long trip in a while), started making a clinking noise which I can only notice with the window down. It SOUNDS like its only during idle, but thats probably because i can no longer hear it at quicker speeds. It increases a tiny bit with acceleration, but a TON when in Drive with my foot on the break and turning the wheel at a standstill. The frequency of the noise increases with a slight increase in volume. has 171,000 miles on it. 4x4 eddie bauer. HELP please

I should add it has brand new brakes, including rotors, and just got an oil change and alignment.

Get your front stabilizer bushings checked, pretty common for that kind of high mileage.Sounds like loose change, right?

Power steering fluid low? When it is low of PS fluid in the resivor, it is slurping air, which is loud when it is pumping it. If it that then you may loose power steering assist, which makes menuvering you truck more "inconvienient." ;-)

Bottom line, theck your PS fluid.
