I had to jump my car yesterday and it wouldn't start. The lady helping me insisted that I connect the negative line to my battery too. I did even though I knew that I wasn't supposed to because the lady is also my boss and I didn't want to argue with her. It worked and my car started. Why shouldn't you connect the negative line to the dead battery?

Looking for a new car, but can't decide. Just looking for opinions. I have a Hyundai and it has 108,000 miles and still runs great! I also have a mustang and at 46,000 we are taking it apart to love on it to keep it running well. Typically American cars do not last as long as Japanese or other imports. I am drooling over a new Dodge Charger, but don't want to throw good money down the tube on a car that won't last more than 100,000 miles.

Check engine code P0442, emissions leak detected. 2000 Tiburon 5 speed manual, air build up in gas tank makes it so at the gas station the pump stops like its "full" every five seconds. I just bought this car and it wasnt on then, so obviously the dealer just reset the light so it wouldnt come on before I bought it. Any ideas how I should proceed with this problem? Is it a leak in the fuel system? Catalytic converter?

I purchased a full size conversion van last summer in July and in September I put some new brake pads on the front because they were grinded all the way down to nothing, then again in November i put another set on because that set has grinded down, and now i hear the grinding sound again when i hit the brakes ( i am talking about the front brakes, not sure about the back ones) so i know i need new front brakes again, and when my ex changes the brake pads i can see how they are paper thin, is this normal... my brother has the same van and only changes his once per year if that... what to do ?

1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee F/T 4WD, 6 Cyl., automatic. I noticed the other day that the rubber boot on my left front CV was torn away exposing the CV joint. Today I noticed a clunking noise coming from that wheel which increases in the number of clunks the sharper the turn is. Is it possible that the CV joint is on the way out? I had the left front wheel bearing replaced about 18 months ago. There is otherwise no other noises or problems when driving straight and I was not aware of the noise when turning to the right. Any ideas are most welcome! Thanks in advance.

A year ago, my coolant reservoir cracked ,but when i added antifreeze my heat still worked. The car sat for about 9 months and i just took it to get the reservior replaced, thinking the heater would then work, but it blows cool air, and the air flow seems limited. I replaced the Thermostat myself, and it still isnt working. The A/C works just fine. Any idea what could be wrong? I noticed when i got it back from the mechanic my turn signal wasnt working...he had removed the fuse for whatever reason. Is it possible he could have removed a fuse that would cause my heat not to work? I checked the fuses next to my manual and the only 2 missing are the "Transit relay" (Export only) and the "Thermactor relay" (FFV only). The "thermactor" sounds like it might affect the heat, but im a moron when it comes to cars...what does "FFV only" mean? Does it mean i dont need it on my car? Any help would be great! Thanks.

It's a 2005 SUV and my husband and I are going to be over in Saudi Arabi for about 3-6 years because of his job. Though he talked to his brother who was also over seas for a few years and when they came back their van wouldn't start.

So please if anyone has any advice for what we should do to our SUV before we leave I would be more than thankful to read it.

We leave in Georgia so it dosn't get to cold here.

Thank you for your time
