It should be about $300 but you can go to a local junkyard and find your own windshield for MUCH less and have it professionally installed by some dude.
You can also go to maps.google.com and search for local businesses within your area with keywords such as "windshield" "auto glass" etc...
Most dealerships are closed for that service at Saturday afternoon and open back on Monday morning so you might want to go for an independent business.

I just had my wifes expeditions windshield replaced, and that cost about 250 dollars. For your Explorer it may cost about 200 or less hopefully. If you can afford it always buy a new one and not a salvaged one!

1 have you flushed it and entire system first 2 are u sure its not the blend doors or heater core valve? 3 odd to have a 6 yr old car with a bad HC 4 usual cost is 500 to 700 dollars,,,dash usually needs removal 5 is thermostat good?

Nothing. The next truck you are behind take down his info and call the company and tell them he threw a rock into your windsheid and you want it fixed. I've never done it, but I used to work for a trucking company and people do it all the time, it works, they usually pay for it no questions asked.

Mine cost $250, but check to see if your insurance company will pay for it first...then you only have to pay the deductible
