i own a shop,and that's what it sounds like that's happened to it,its kind of strange though,you don't see that happening that much to any cars now days ,but it still does happen,its not all that bad of a job to do,though,if you,ll get a good repair manual to help you with it,it will make the job go a lot easier ,and faster,when you need info,all you have to do is look in the book,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.

I cant imagine it is your cam broken, I could however see your lifters being damaged. They are fairly simple to change, you will need a good set of tools however.

it doesnt have to be cracked in half.it could be just 2 of the lobes are worn down.what causes that is the lifters freeze up and wear the lobes.
