How about Honda? They are much more reliable and built in Marysville, Ohio.
Many American cars are built (or parts are manufactured) in Mexico and Canada, and the quality is just not very good.
Dodge cars are especially unreliable.

American all the way, I think the nicest looking car this year in the Mustang Convertible, although it's alittle pricey for my taste. In Trucks or SUV I'd have to say Chevrolet, I have had several Chevys thay have been the most reliable and hardest working, you can abuse the heck out on a Chevy truck and it keeps on running. I'm just going by my own past exp My little Chevy S-10 have over 200,000miles on the same engine and transmission, and believe me it has been driven and worked hard, with daily abuse. I think that most of what people say about American cars not being as good as Japanese car is a bunch of B.S. I don't know of any import car or truck that can stand up to my abuse. I am hard on a car. But if you are into import car that what you should buy, I strongly feel you should get what you like and not what some-one else likes. You will be the one driving it and repairing it, so get that car you just got to have and happy motoring.

I have a 1989 Ford Ranger, and it has 188 000km on it. I bought it off of a family friend, who had a friend buy the exact same truck, on the same day, from the same dealer, with the same options, they were 1 number apart on the VIN plates. thats how exact they were. His buddy, just sold his Ranger when it "died" (water pump gave out), he sold it and the next owner fixed it (just the water pump) and at that point it was at 450 000km, that was about a year ago.
For cars, I have a friend with a Crown Victoria and he has about 315 000km on it. I work in a garage and i see many crown victoria/grand marquies/town car/any Ford equipted witht he 4.6L and I have seen them last 700 000km plus. I see more domestics coming into the shop with 300 000km plus then i do imports, and when i see an american car with 300 000km its still running good, most of the time. when msot of the imports i see with 300 000km plus are falling apart and running like a bag of rocks, then the odd one running good.
It is a true story, it doesn't matter if a vehilce is domestic or imported, they will only last if they are maintained well. I have done maintance of cars that have been well over 500 000km and are still running like new, with original engines/transmissions. Maintance is everything.

How long a car lasts isn't about foreign or domestic anymore...it is now, and always has been, about how well you maintain it.
There isn't a simple way to say it, other than "parts break, wear out, rust, etc." no matter where they are built. "Lemons" show up in every car line there is. Go by any car dealership service center, they are all busy fixing something.
So, whatever car you buy, treat it right and it will "normally" last a long time...abuse it, and it won't.

my 1991 Ford F-150 4X4 has 196,000 miles. Simply because I take care of it. I bought it new in Feb 1991.
Still looks good too. My 2004 Ford F-150 4X4 isnt as good a truck as the 1991. (my opinion) But my next truck will be another Ford.
I dont do "cars"!

Eh, I dunno its always a trade off of sportiness and reliability it seems. I like american muscle at times (TAs, Camaros, Vettes, etc) but I really love British makes like TVR and Lotus. Though historically they fall apart and are expensive as hell to fix and I dont think TVR is sold in USA (could be wrong). Anyways, who can afford those cars? lol. Hondas are kind of plain but reliable, high resale. I had a civic that lasted a while with no major issues. I actually just bought a 5 speed tiburon but haven't had time for something to go horribly wrong yet :). The guy that said go German is smart, VW, Porche, etc are well built but kind of pricey to fix. Its all about compromise. YOu could always get a Volvo? I hear when you crash in one of those things its like floating on clouds ;)

Buy a German car. sometimes Japanese models don't match U.S. crash tests so they sometimes alter the cars for their american consumers. But foreign cars are never quite as BIG.
