The vehicle is a Mitzubishi Express van and the last oil change was done 4 months ago. I have a small leak and it needs a top up, but I don't want to purchase more synthetic oil until i get the leak repaired, due to the cost factor.

I have an 88' Thunderbird, and all the fuses are good, and all of the electrical connections are live. I've tried putting in a different instrument cluster/panel, and the temperature and fuel gauges still will not work, even though I've tested them out of the vehicle with a 12volt power supply, and the gauges move. (The instrument panel is analog gauges and digital speedometer.) The speedometer, indicator lights, and illumination lights all work. Could there be any fusable links or relays that a Chilton's manual would not indicate?
(Knowledgeable answers only please!)

I have a E-150 Conversion Van that vents out semi-warm heat (only for less than 1 minute), but shortly after, eventually starts too push cold air out of the vents. What could be the cause this problem?

well the other day my car wouldn't keep charged, drained the battery fast, no stereo nothing. So I figured it had to be the alternator. Well after stressing all weekend, getting the cash to fix it, I started it up today and everything is working just fine. Even with the lights on. I wasn't tripping. Has anyone else ever had their car fix itself?

I have a 1987 Subaru Justy; it's a terrific car that is mechanically sound and has tonnes of life left. Plus it's my baby and I plan on keeping it forever.

However, the rear seat has sun damage and the driver seat is cracked and worn from wear. Also the carpet near the pedals has worn through. It looks ugly and I have seat covers, but it doesn't look as good as having actual upholestry.

Where would I find seats for this car? I tried Ebay but there's none. Also tried dismantling yards, but this car is pretty rare and couldn't find any. Any websites you know of?

Also, once I find some, how hard is it for a "do-it-yourselfer" to take the old ones and bolt new ones in? It seems like it'd be just a number of bolts holding the seat and tracks to the floor.

I have a '94 Jetta and am just getting used to driving stick. I find that when I shift into 3rd I am usually capable of 60km/h but at around 2800 RPMs. Is this OK or is it considered too high? I know that I should be shifting at around 3000 RPMs but I am wondering if keeping the engine at 2800 will cause any damage. Also, is there a distinct smell when the clutch is burning? The car in question is diesel and there seems to be a smell that lingers in it. I am wondering whether this is the diesel or the clutch. Thanks in advance.

ok, just so you're warned these two questions are way beyond basic and what everyone should know....however.....

1) What is the difference between oil and gasoline? I've heard these two terms used almost interchangeably.

2) What are gears like 2nd, 3rd, gear actually used for? I mean like in what exact instances would I need to go into 2nd gear, or 3rd gear?

How much would it cost to replace a transmission pan on a Dodge Spirit '95. The transmission runs fine when it is full, but leaks out over a few weeks and has to be refilled with fluid. I don't want to rebuild the transmission, the car is too old to be worth that.

I've replaced the EGR valve before and the first mechanic said there was a water deposit inside that could be the cause. The service light came on again 5 months later saying the EGR was bad again. What could cause the water deposit? I know I have a leak in my valve cover gasket that leaks in my spark plug bay.
