The car is a 2005 model with triptronic gearbox. Took it to a mechanic who did the engine diagnostics and says that it could be a gearbox fault and might need replacement. He's advised me to take it to a vauxhall main dealer. Car has done about 80K miles. I took the car about 6 months back and has been driving beautifully until last week. Any advise would be welcome. If gearbox needs change, any idea what it would cost me and what alternatives are available in the market. Sorry, but am a car nerd!!

I have tried prying, pulling, & beating on the driveshaft to free the bearing from the bearing housing/motor support. What is the easiest way to get the bearing/motor support off the motor mount insulator? I have gotten the bolts out of the support & the nut off the insulator. I have taken the nuts off the insulator bolts also.
I have gotten this far & don't want to do a half shaft replacement yet.

I'm going to glue the interior rear view mirror on my truck back in its place on the windsheild. I've needed to do this to every vehicle I've owned. My question is...what wisdom of what wise sage decided, hey lets glue the mirror to the glass instead of screwing it to the interior roof.mirrors never came off back then.

I'm 13 years old, and heating up the car is part of my chores. I just wanna make sure that I'm heating up the car right early in the morning. I just start the engine and let it be, until the temperature gauge is on the right spot, then I rev it up for a few seconds. Am I doing it right?

On occasion, while in 4D gear and I have to decelerate to a 1st or 2nd gear speed, my Accord seems to down shift extraodinarily hard and when I begin to accelerate, it seems to lurch before it shifts back into gear. I've been to 2 mechanics and a transmission shop and all have told me something different. Due to inconsistencies of information at the tranny shop, I'm not real trusting of their opinion. I'm told there are no codes showing up in the computer but that the fluid has a bad odor, that I shouldn't change the fluid now, that it doesn't require a tranny filter, that I should put some additive in it, that I shouldn't put additive in it, that the down shifting is normal for this car. I recently bought the car at 140,000 miles and don't know what it needs so I've had alot of other work done on it already to make sure no problems crop up too soon. I suspect that the wrong tranny fluid may have been put in the vehicle. What should I do about this suspicious tranny issue?

I have a 94 Dodge 4x4 Pick Up. The back of the truck sits higher than the front and I want to level it out. Also, I have 33" tires that rub in the front if I turn too sharp, it is a HUGE hassle and I must get it fixed. What can I do? Cheapest route and prices?

I noticed a leak in the driveway earlier in the week. I told my wife to park in another spot so that I could make sure it was her car. After confirming the leak was from the stratus, we stopped using it for the week. On Friday evening, we used it to go to the auto store for transmission fluid and other supplies. On the way home, the stratus shifted into second really hard. I instructed my wife to pull over. It was already getting dark, so I couldn't see anything. After working on it a bit today, I took it for a drive, and am noticing that the transmission will not shift from first to second. Is this common? And, is this going to be a very expesive fix?

My sat nav doesn't hold a charge for long so i have to keep it hard wired via the cigarette power socket in the car. However its not showing the light on the plug that its receiving power from the car power socket.

My sister told me it was probably broken as got the lighter stuck in the socket for quite some time, where it stayed hot for a long time, and it wouldn't spring out... until it cut out, and had to tease the thing out.

I thought it would be a blown fuse... but I tried to replace it now (with a 15 amp fuse as per in manual) and the fuse blows as i put it in. Happened twice in a row with new fuses. Can see the new fuses flash and hear them fizzle when try to put them in.

Any ideas what could try next ? Or could it be a maybe a more serious $$$££$$$£££ issue with the circuitary maybe having melted ?

We live on a dirt road, and when it rains, they're pretty impassable. My Mother was borrowing my car (a 97 Ford Escort) and managed to get it bogged down. She got it back out, but I just drove to town and back and my car was shaking really badly. It only started shaking when I got up to 55 mph and over- otherwise it drove normally. Could this just be the result of mud caked in the tires or elsewhere under the car, or could it be a really serious problem that I should have seen about at once?
