new transfer case ,won't move in park it ground a little then engaged

If the transfer came out of a vehicle with lockout hubs and you don't have lockout hubs it won't move. You have to put the shifter in 4 wheel drive. Did you make sure the shaft between the tranny and transfer is there or ok? I have broken the shaft between them.......

it should not grind in park or neutral, sounds like the tranny shaft is spinning, are both driveshafts installed ?

you should be able to go from 2hi to 4hi in gear at speeds up to around 40 or 45 with no problem too

see the backside of the sunvisor, it should tell you this, also the owners manual

if you dont have either then i could scan and upload theinfo from an owners manual i have lots for full size gm trucks from 67-87 years

the very first thing you need to do is to make sure the gear ratios in the front and rear axles are the same after you are sure of that there are a number of things that could be wrong . Is the case new or used if it was used then that case could be froze up or possibly busted we really need to know more about what you got going on
