Maintenance & Repairs - November 2006

I have a 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra with app.120,000 miles. Just the other day it started to squeak when I acelerated, almost like bird chirping, and then tonight another thing happened. I was idling outside of a store for abot 4 minutes, then turned the vehicle off. Next thing I know I hear a bubbling/boiling sound, opened my hood and saw that my engine coolant was EXTREMELY hot, and from where I was I could see it was somehow leaking onto the inner part of my front right tire and onto the ground, but could not see from where.....

Any information/suggestions will be greatly appreciated

I scraped a painted wooden pole, and now there's red paint going alongside my car. My paint is not scratched and I can scrape the red off. Is there something else I can use to wipe it off?

I have Opel Astra Est 1.6. When trailer is hooked up and I signal Right of Left I have this loud bleeping sound in car. I wrote to Opel and recd answer from Vauxhall UK who said "it's built in and you can't stop it". It drives me crazy. Is there anyone who can tell me what to do? I am no good at electronics and hesitant with electrics. There is nothing in Haynes Maual about it either hapening or how to 'cure' it. H E L P ....... ???

Hi, ive got a little prob with my rebuild thats going on at the mo, ive had my pinto block rebored to 2.1 and have gone to fit the pistons but the oil control ring is very tight in the bore. The metal parts have plenty of clearance but the sprung centre of the three part ring is so tight in the hole that it wont fit, it actually overlaps its self by about 5mm.

can anyone tell me if this is normal? as i know its a scraper ring but i dont want it to scrape the bores away! lol

any help would be appreciated

replacement from auto body is approximately $2200. I have found new bumpers with out paint for sale online for approximately $240 unpainted. I would have a professional paint said bumper. Can I a novice at best, mechanic, remove damaged bumper and replace with new bumper.Any

I got a 88 isuzu impulse a month ago.At first it was nice and got "some power". But aftyer my brother floored the pedal shifting at 5-6000 rpm, it just kind of pull back. 1st gear goes up to 3-4000 rpm only doing like 5 mph. I checked the air filter and it is very brittle and crispy. I am having a hard time looking for parts so i can't replace the air filter yet. by the way i think the car also had been sitting for a while. I just change my oil and when i checked it was black already. help please!!!

I am close to purchasing a 2004 Chevy Silverado. It does not currently have a bed liner. I would do only light hauling for the most part. Occasionally I will haul brush and that type of thing. What would be the smartest, cheapest, and best bed liner? Spray on? Plastic? What is the best brand? Help?
