I have Opel Astra Est 1.6. When trailer is hooked up and I signal Right of Left I have this loud bleeping sound in car. I wrote to Opel and recd answer from Vauxhall UK who said "it's built in and you can't stop it". It drives me crazy. Is there anyone who can tell me what to do? I am no good at electronics and hesitant with electrics. There is nothing in Haynes Maual about it either hapening or how to 'cure' it. H E L P ....... ???

Hook up trailer and put indicator on so that you can find where beeping noise is coming from - it will be a little black box about the size of a matchbox somewhere beside the back lights.
When you find it bung some blue tack in the holes and tape it up silence is golden BUT it will be illegal as you have to know when an indicator or light on the trailer has failed I.E. You forgot to plug it in..

It's GMs answer to the requirement to have an audible or visible warning when towing a trailer to tell you the trailer indicators are working. Some vehicles have an extra light to do this, some have a beeper.

You can physically disable it, but that requires some vandalism and I wouldn't suggest that, would I?

could be a defective starter/ solinoid.. If it became the alternator, the motor vehicle might initiate the warning lights may be on the sprint each and all the time and the 1st signes may be as your using alongside the radio wouold fade out, then the motor vehicle might decrease out and no ability in any respect...then you somewhat wait and the battery might recuperate, and the motor vehicle might restart.. yet might in basic terms run for a shorter distance. each and every night you will possibly ought to recharge the battery and in the morning the motor vehicle might initiate first time each and every time. So i think of adjusting the alt became a waist of pennies. possibly in case you could upload if the motor vehicle actuatly turns over once you place the biggest in and attempt to start it.. or if each and every thing is lifeless?, whilst the engine wont initiate- does the radio artwork nice?. If it became a gasoline pump i might think of it would turn over and slutter to existence with what's in the carb/injection equipment

The idea of an audible warning is to let you know indicators on trailer are working. A legal requirement. When you find it tape the hole so you can just here it.

Follow the electrics into the boot and you will find something about the size of a AA battery, hit this with a hammer.

NO MORE BUZZING

The reason it is there is so that if you have a light out, it will stop buzzing and thus let you know.

I think Robster is right on this one. That round thing is a pain in the neck safety thing, apparently. Like you don't know your signaling by noting the little indicator in the instruments!

Become an EU commissioner and change the legislation that requires the bleeping.

Don't ask me how to become an EU commissioner.
