My wife had me to take her 1998 Ford Taurus to get an inspection sticker in North Carolina. New NC State laws require some cars be given an OBDII test if check engine light is on. The car failed the test with a trouble code PO125 which is Insufficient Coolant Temperature for Closed Loop Fuel Control. A while back the heater core apparently went out on it because there was coolant all in the floor on the passenger-side and the heater would only blow out cold air when the heat was on. We by-passed the heater core and I did replace the thermostat on it. Can you give me any advice of what to do without it costing me an arm and a leg to repair it? We have 30 days to repair it or we will have to pay for another inspection.

My 2006 Mazda 3 check engine light is on, but not blinking. The dealership said that it's not serious if the engine is not blinking and that it is ok to drive. Can anyone else out there confirm this is true? Has anyone else had this problem with a Mazda 3? They say it can be a loose gas cap. And that if i drive for 100 miles it should turn off.

My boyfriend brought his 2001 Volkswagen Jetta into Jiffy Lube for an oil change. Before the 3,000 miles was even up, the car started making noise and the oil light came on. He took it to the dealer and they have to relpace the oil pan and plug. The oil plug was not put back in properly and was stripped, causing the oil to leak out. If he had let it go just a little longer, the entire engine would have needed to be replaced. The bill is $527. Is Jiffy Lube liable for something like this? Or do you sign away rights when you get the oil change?

Was in an accident and there's a 1' X 4" dent on the front side panel. Is this repairable without replacing the panel? Like those places that "massage" out dents? How much would it cost?

It's that time of year to get a state vehicle inspection sticker. Garage 1 said upper and lower ball joints on both sides were bad, needed to be changed and front end alignment before I can get a sticker. Garage 2 said nothing was wrong with the ball joints just needed a front end alignment. How do I check the ball joints on my own to see if the ball joints are bad or not? Thanks.

I have a 1999 Windstar with 45,000 miles. The other day I was driving west about 60 mph and there was a VERY strong south wind. I had my lights on and the air conditioner on and I looked down and the digital display for the odometer, message center and clock on the radio was fading in and out. As soon as I turned north and the wind was at my back, the display returned to normal. Any ideas??? Are these just piece of crap vehicles? I just had to have a wheel bearing replace and now it's making ANOTHER rubbing noise and once in a while a knocking sound. Is it true you can take it to Napa or some place similar and have it hooked to a computer and checked free of charge? Thanks so much for any help!

No heat coming from the heater. Just cold air blows when turned to heat. AC works fine.

Don't know if this could be related but we've had a problem with the van going into passing gear. At times it will just refuse to get out of 1st gear (it is automatic) Usually letting up and down on the accelerator will "fix" the problem and it will go ahead and shift into a higher/faster gear.

In trying to fix the acceleration problem we've changed the water pump, among many other things. Van isn't overheating or anything.

Any ideas? Sure do need that heater.

Ok first the solenoid was clicking and the truck wouldnt start even when trying to jump it. I replaced the solenoid and still it was clicking. I replaced the starter, cleaned and checked all the connections and it still wouldnt start. Then I placed a screw driver on the solenoid and got it to crank that way. Now the truck starts up like nothing was ever wrong...... what was the cause and could there still be something wrong with it?
