converter does not make one smoke sounds like you are burning a little oil ...chande the oil and start using 20w50 type oil if you have more than 100,000 miles on it

Black smoke is fuel...blue smoke is oil..white smoke is water. sounds like head gasget or cracked block or head, look in radiator and on dipstick for white foamy goop. good luk!!
