Ok first the solenoid was clicking and the truck wouldnt start even when trying to jump it. I replaced the solenoid and still it was clicking. I replaced the starter, cleaned and checked all the connections and it still wouldnt start. Then I placed a screw driver on the solenoid and got it to crank that way. Now the truck starts up like nothing was ever wrong...... what was the cause and could there still be something wrong with it?

Perhaps a poor/corroded signal from your ignition source to the terminal that activates the solenoid. by jumpering the solenoid
you are eliminating the activation source (the signal from your ignition switch thru your neutral safety switch to the solenoid)

there are two areas that need attention, first the key switch on fords or notorious for going bad sometimes not letting the vehicle start or the dash and brake lights,or running lights to work!! the second is the solenoid could have been either closed or opened and when you jumped it you energized it the way it's suppose to work!!

You managed to fry off any corrosion that was impeding the connection. This WILL happen again. Clean all wire connectors (including the ground wire) and like the others said replace the ignition switch.

well I see ford has done it again...you have a bad ground it will be between battery and starter look down at that big red wire going down to the starter I will bet you a quarter if you give it a little tug its going to come out of the connecter on the starter
