My car is sputtering on acceleration. I do have a hole in my air intake, but it is covered with duct tape. My bottom screw to distributor isn't there because an old screw broke off in there. I know these are reasons it could be doing what its doing, along with a dirty fuel injector, but it has had these things for a couple of months and has seemed fine.
However, when it rains is when the car seems to bog down the most. It has happened like 3 times in the last 4 months and always seems to be after a rain. Also, before it started happening this last time I put gas in my car while it was raining and it was an uncovered gas pump.
Is there a chance that water is getting into my gas? How is this happening? How do I stop it? And, since my car is normally fine after it seems that the gas has worked its way through the lines, will this water evaporate or go away? When this happens, if I don't do anything to prevent it, can I just run the car on idle?
