They are really crappy cars so once the warranty is up I am pretty sure you are going to have considerable maintenance costs.

the one service that you should do at regular intervals, and is the most frequent service, is having your oil changed. Costs about $19.99

ONE thing you should keep in mind, is that unlike most imports, i.e. Honda, Toyota, etc., is that when something does go out i.e. water pump, power steering pump, etc. you're gonna pay a pretty penny having it replaced! Mostly because the parts have to be shipped to the USA from England so the cost of the parts itself goes up.

whatever car you do purchase the second most thing you NEED to do is ALWAYS have the timing belt replaced every 60,000 miles or 5 yrs. which ever comes first. Simply because all motors engineered now are "interference" motors. Meaning that if the timing belt breaks, there's no clearance between the piston (@ the top of it's travel) and the valves, so when they collide the valves bend and then you'll pay close to $1000 to have the head serviced, or worse the valve could go straight through the piston and you'll need an engine replaced.
