Ever try welding before? You can get welders for as little as $150, and shouldn't need anymore to weld in a floor/trunk pan. Grab a little scrap sheet metal and teach yourself. Also, you don't need any more than a cutting wheel to get out the old pans...a plasma cutter is overkill. Look into an air compressor as well...it'll come in handy.

Any decent body shop or a welding shop could do it. Find someone with a plasma cutter to remove the old metal. This will make a very nice and clean cut before they install your new pans.

You probably already know about these vendors, but I'll share them with you anyway. The Paddock and Year One are good places to check if you want original parts. But hey, I like the custom fabricated look, I have a custom sheet aluminum interior and it probably costs less than the overpriced original pieces.

For what a shop would charge to do a resto, you could buy the tools and do it yourself, plus with all of those tools, you'll suddenly find that you have alot more friends to help with your project. But they will also need help with theirs. And learning to weld on a buddy's car is the best place to learn.

Try to find (buy, order) the manual that fits your make, model year... Also, you may need a separate "engine" manual. Do check this site. I personally use these manuals and they are not expensive, they make things simple for the amateur/DIYer/home mechanic. Good luck!
