if the car is drivable but keeps overheating, are those symptoms of a blown head gasket or a fried water pump? ive had the car for four years and put 100000 miles on it myself, i bought it used with like 53000 on it. if its neither of those, what would the signs of smoke coming out behind the middle pulley on the 4.3 litre and the car overheating?

I have a 1999 Ford Windstar SEL and every once in awhile when I turn and even more seldom as I'm driving straight after a turn, always at slow speeds, there will be a knocking sound. A couple of times when going very slowly over rough railroad tracks. Sounds like it's coming from around the driver's side front. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a 1994 Ford Escort with 180,000 miles on it. I spent $2,000 in the spring to get some transmission-related issues fixed. I want to keep the car another year, but now I need to replace the springs, at about $500. Should I repair it or am I just in the zone where every two months I'm going to be having another $500 to $1000 repair on a car that is really worth less than $1,000 at this point.

I am having trouble with head lights on a 1990 ford ranger. When I put the light switch in the parking light position no lights work, in the lights on position, head lights work but parking lights and dash lights don't. I changed the light switch, that did not help. The wiring diagram shows that the lights are wired through what they call a multi-function switch. I have no idea what this looks like or where it is located. Can anyone help with this problem?

V8, 95 Grand Cherokee, 180k miles. When I pull away from a stop, sometimes the engine sputters and cuts out very briefly. It sounds/feels like driving over cracks in the road. It doesn't do it at high rpm's. I changed my plugs about 10k miles ago. The K&N air filter is clean. The plug wires are about 5 years old. What could be the problem?

My 100,000+ miles Sundance made a *clunk* sound and then dropped a puddle of oil and gas when I started it recently (it's had a small oil leak for years) . Can this be fixed? Should it be fixed or is it time for it to go to the "farm"? Thanks!

I have a ford taurus 1996 GL, i parked my car with the battery connected for 4 months, when tryed to start the engine, well the battery was dead. So a friend help me out to start the engine. The car started first try no problem. I tought a 30 minutes run will recharge the battry, but not enought to start it back.

When i drive the car, at around 5000 rpm, the light inside the car lower, and at 6000 rpm, the engine cut for a second. For sure the battery don't want to be charged correctly. Maybe it's dead, and i need a new one.

Well, Here is my question

But regarding the engine cut at 6000rpm, do you think it's an alternator problem ? or it's just that the battry is dead.

Any opinion ?

Well it is an '87 olds cutlass ciera and it has has this problem before. Last time this happened i had the fuel pump replaced and a new battery put in. Both are about 1 year old now. Only a couple of days ago it was working fine then i replaced the radio and the rear speakers and now it refuses to start. My radio, lights and other things that run off the battery are fine i just can't start the car. I'm going to try and jump it later today.
