Check to see if they may be on the some "circuit breaker", yes cars have them too, if you mean that they both stop at the same time and pop back on in a short amount of time at the same time.---KEY TERM HERE IS: at the same time!!!! I don't see how vacuum can affect the actual working of the fan, but as has been mentioned above, it affect WHERE your fan blows.

None of those depends on the other to stop working. But a leak or faulty vacuum system could cause the a/c to come out the wrong vent opening and also not allow your car to maintain speed on an uphill run.

most likely a vacuum problem, if you vehicle were equiped with the electronic version, you probably wouldn't notice a problem with both.
