The tube that the dip stick goes in is broke off my plymouth sundance and it is using oil.I've called salvage yards, and they don't know if another kind would work or not.

No, they're not. There are different lengths, and probably different diameters. Try to find a replacement from the same model car.

you could make another one work by modifing the support brackets. you would also have to cut either the tube or the dipstick to have it read the right level. most are the same diameter. check the level right after an oil change so you know its right and then modify whichever part is too long.

call chrysler, it shouldn't be that much more than what you would pay at a salvage yard. and you have a better chance of getting the right part the first time.

you have to get the same one.
if you change the length you wont get the right reading
