Maintenance & Repairs - July 2006

I have a 2001 Impala, found someone to buy it but he found an oil leak that i did not know was there. It goes from the top of the engine and you can follow the trail of oil all the way down. How much will he be paying to fix this? I want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off by going down on the price because of the needed repair.

1. on startup, it immediately bogs down a little and then idles just short of perfect.
2. while driving a steady pace it runs great, the moment my foot pushes the pedal in some, shaking and bogging down.
3. going up on ramps is a pain in the butt.
4. when I slam the pedal to the floor it takes off like mad.

what does this MOST LIKELY sound like?? please only one answer, I am trying to keep the "chasing" to a minimum.

My car just died after refueling in a local gas station, got noisy valves and the engine overheated.

first of all, one cylinder had got stuck. my mechanic fixed that, yet there was lots of carbon left in it. so my mechanic tried to get all of it out, the most that he could.. then, after he did all of that, the car would not move at all, unless you put the pedal to the ground, and then it would actually go. the mechanic said that it needed a new fuel filter. so i put on a new fuel filter. now, it gets very bad gas milage... as in 8-12 mpg, when normally it had gotten around 22-26mpg.and the spark plugs are getting fouled out. the mechanic that normally fixes my car is really not helping that much. it seems just to be getting worse.

does anyone know whats happening and whats wrong with my Volvo?

and its not using up oil....

My car was stolen a few months back and the steering column is all messed up....I have to start it underneath by sticking my key into this little white circular piece then I have to put my key into the ignition switch so the steering wheel doesn't lock up.....I tried to get my tags renewed but couldn't....need to pass an emissions test first but was denied for this reason....the guy said something about a start switch which I have no clue......I'm just looking for a temporary CHEAP fix to pass emissions till I can get the whole thing fixed......any help would be appreciated

Unfortunately the Bible that is the knowledge of Haynes manuals doesnt seem to supply valve clearance for this year which I find puzzling. The engine ticks over with a distinctive tapping noise and so the tappits and injectors are suspect, although my knowledge of injectors is minimal. Any specific and genuine answers would be greatly recieved. Thanks.

Earlier this month i did some maintnace on my durangos transmission because it was going shifting into gears and people kept telling me that my transmission was blown. I didnt want to hear that cuz i know how expensive that is to fix. So I took it to a shop to flush the transmission fluid and change the filter and all that. Now it seems to run fine until it gets to 50mph. Then it doesnt shift and it revs without changing gear. Could it be that i just need to run it more, or is my transmission gone, and should i not drive it like this? I cant afford to pay what it costs to fix. Help!

2 weeks ago the truck had a new speed sensor put in i drove if for the weekend everything was fine but that monday a tree fell and crushed the roof when i got it back today i drove it and the tran wouldn't shift out of first i noticed then that the speed ometer wasn't working anymore but it won't shift it just stays in that one gear some body i need some good useful ideas quick please
