Earlier this month i did some maintnace on my durangos transmission because it was going shifting into gears and people kept telling me that my transmission was blown. I didnt want to hear that cuz i know how expensive that is to fix. So I took it to a shop to flush the transmission fluid and change the filter and all that. Now it seems to run fine until it gets to 50mph. Then it doesnt shift and it revs without changing gear. Could it be that i just need to run it more, or is my transmission gone, and should i not drive it like this? I cant afford to pay what it costs to fix. Help!

Sounds as if the lock up converter has gone out. Just a guess from your description. You should really have a reputable shop check into it. I would recommend the dealership. Who knows Dodge better than the Dodge Mechanic? You could go to a wrecking yard and try to find a used one but these type of components do not set for long and are in high demand. If you find used you will be extremely lucky.

It sounds as tho you have a serious problem with your transmission. It was a very good idea to get the transmission serviced tho. At the time of service did the shop mention the condition of the fluid and whether there was any excessive clutch material in the pan? The best thing you can do is to have it checked by a good dealership or qualified transmission repair shop to determine the exact cause of your problem.A dealership would be best as they are more familiar with your vehicle and can check for any technical service bulletins or if a flash update is available for the trans. control module. They can also check the clutch volume index and determine the extent of the wear on the transmission clutches. It,s possible that something can be done but it sounds as tho it may be a serious problem.I wish I had better news for you but all you can do is have it checked and determine the extent of the problem before you get stranded somewhere. Good luck.

i have to agree with all of the answerers on this one. take it to the dealer!!!!!! then flush job you just had done probably did you in. i am totally against flushing because all it is, is a money making scam! now is the check engine light on? if so start there. inside the 47re ( what dodge calls the trans) there is a governor and a governor pressure solenoid. for every mph on your speedometer you should have 1 psi of governor pressure. ex: 50 mph=50psi. you can only read this data with a scan tool! so take it to the dealer and get peace of mind not some backyard, backwoods, couldn`t hit water if i fell out of a boat bozo. all the answers you have received are from trained and experienced technicians who know what they are doing, so take our advise and quit listening to your friends who fit the backyard bill where your truck and most important, your MONEY are concerned. good luck.
