You got some bad gas. You are not hearing noisy valves, you are hearing spark knock (detonation). This might explain the over heating. The computer would retard the timing to try to get rid of the knock which will reduce power. The engine is having to work harder and can overheat.

Probably just a coincidence with the gasoline. Bad gas might cause it to stall, but not overheat.
The noisey valves can be attributed to the overheat, and it is possible that the engine got so hot it died....
Have the dealer check it over and tell you what happened, if it is related to the gasoline than have the gas station you bought the gas at pay for the repairs.

Water in the gas would definitely cause your engine to die, but I doubt it would cause overheating. Have you checked the oil level? Noisy valves, overheating, sounds more like a lack of oil.

Yes...the noisy valves you are describing is probably "pinging" and that is a sign of bad gas. It's pre-ignition and it makes your engine very hot. Dump in a bottle of heat to help. If you have a vinyl tank, you'll have this problem every year or two. Good luck.

Child, if you got water in your gas tank you would have the coldest engine on the planet because it won't run. It sounds more like you ran it out of oil or got some cheap gas that makes your car knock. That knocking will generate heat for sure.

If you get water in your gas your car will sound like a diesel, you will loose power. The only true way to fix the problem is to drain the tank, clean out ALL the fuel lines, injectors and then refill it with better gas.
