I have a 1997 Ford Taurus GL. It's mileage is around 149,600. I had to have someone tighten something in the transmission like 2 1/2 to 3 years ago. It was used when I got it. It is now making a rattling sound, that could be the fan or something else in the transmission. It sometimes shifts hard. But my main question is: How much longer should I bother fixing it up? I don't want to spend money on fixing the transmission if the transmission won't last much longer. What is the longest and safest mileage I should go on that car before I should start looking for another one. I keep up my oil changes, but I haven't had my car looked at since the last time someone fixed the transmission. This may sound bad also, but one of the windows doesn't want to go down, the dash is coming unglued, and the inside part of the door is coming loose. The passenger door window isn't sealed all the way, so it sounds like you're going to fly out when I drive. Thanks!
