at 5000 miles, the maintenance required lamp comes on to advise that an oil change is to be done as well as some other minor maintenance. The maintenance schedule book says to reset the MRQ. HOW?

not absolutely possitive but on a 06 highlander you have the key off. then push in the trip button and hold it. While holding it in, turn the key forward to on (not start) wait about 5-10 seconds and the light should go out and odometer will read 000000 for a second. Hope it works.

if you have changed the oil and the light is still on, disconnect your battery for about 3 minutes and then reconnect. that should turn the light off and reset the computer.

with a code scanner that most mechanics have. you can purchase this at a parts store...ranges vary. my buddy has one for $80. it reads codes the computer in the vehicle tells it, and enters the codes into a computer pgm that tells him the code's meaning. the codescanner can also reset the computer's error codes.
