I have corrosion on my battery - a bunch of white powder forming around one of the terminals. I've heard I can use coke to clean it then a mix of vaseline and bicarb to fix the problem. How do I do this? Do I have to unhook the terminal first? Or just pour the coke on then add vaseline and bicarb? how much?

Yeah that's correct. Just pour about 4 ounces on each port and let sit for a few minutes. Disconnect the cables and use a "battery post cleaner" to shave a bit of the cable away. You can get them at any car parts store. It has metal bristles inside of a ring shaped tool and you place it over the posts and just turn back and forth a few times and VOILA!! Wipe away any excess shavings, coke or residue and reconnect your cables to the posts. Good luck..

Hi
Just pour coke on the terminal ( I would disconnect) then let bubble then just brush off with a wire brush apply Vaseline and re-connect . (works well) Bicarb also works but is messier.

a can of coke will work to clean the terminals but after that you need to take the terminals loose from the battery and clean them with a battery post cleaner or wire brush. Then when attaching the terminals put any kind of lubricant , but car grease works the best.think moderation

clean it off with some coke a a high grit sand paper. also here is a trick for you. tape a couple of pennys to the middle of your battery between the posts, and the corrosion will go there, instead of your terminals. i dont know why, but it does.

unhook the ground cable first use baking soda to clean the terminals and the posts but be careful you don't get any of the baking soda mixture in the cells, clean both terminals the post and the top of the battrey then replace the pos terminal first and then the ground and you will be good to go
